Projects

So lately I have been inspired to do some crafty things. I have so many projects I want to do and I cannot wait to do them! I have a super crafty sister who has inspired me and I follow a TON of blogs that give great ideas for refinishing furniture and other crafty things. Then, Pinterest came along and I can't stop looking at it! I just love all the ideas! Call me an idea stealer, but hey I need all the help I can get!

Anyway, my first project was obviously my comforter that I made! And now that I have that, I just want to do more and more to make my room/house just the way I want it. Unfortunately it takes time, but eventually I will have the room of my dreams. (and the house) I Can't wait. In the meantime, I have done a couple of other things.

The first is very simple and something that I should have thought of a million years ago. Because I know this isn't a new discovery! I bought a curtain rod, some shower hooks and.... Voilá, I have a very convenient way to hang up my necklaces. I am in the process of working on something for all my earrings :)

Before they were just shoved between two different jewelry boxes and were all tangled and I just didn't want to deal with them. Now, I put my shirt on...turn around and can easily pick one. Like I said, it's simple, but I love it.

The next project I did is in my bathroom. I have these wonderful shelves that go behind/above the toilet. My sister-in-law Taytum gave them to us and I love them. They are so nice, especially since space is limited in our bathroom, but mostly they are just too cute.

Before:
After:

Again, just simple. But it brings it to life, and I love it. The green matches my shower curtain perfectly!

These are my next projects:
I can't wait to refinish this hutch for the kitchen. It's going to be beautiful! I already love this hutch so much (also given to us by Taytum, she rocks!) I can't wait to get it finished.

And I have two of these little beauties. New nightstands! Breezy got them for me for freeeeeeee, I love free. I am soooo excited to redo these little guys! They are going to be perfect for my bedroom!

I'm sure it will be awhile before they are all finished, but I will be sure to post pictures when they are. :)

I CAN'T WAIT! It's so fun!

Summer is almost over...

I can't believe summer is almost over! I start work this week and I start school next week! I am REALLY excited! This summer has been good. It's been nice to take a break from things. But it's also been a crazy summer and I'm glad it's coming to an end.

My summer consisted of living at my parents house for the first 7 weeks while Spenser went to training. Luckily I got to see him on the weekends, but it was not fun saying goodbye every Sunday for another week! I was so glad when that chapter ended. Burn the pages baby, I never want to see them again! Saying goodbye is for dating people, we're married now, it's our right to sleep next to each other every night! lol. (I so don't miss those dating days!)

However, living at my parents did involve a lot of really fun times! I got to spend time with my BFF Alli for quite a bit of time, more than we ever get to spend with each other! Her husband was out of town for a couple weeks so I got the pleasure of seeing her. It was fun!!! So glad our husbands made that possible for us :)

This is why we’re friends. She’s awesome and her laugh is so contagious.

I also got to see my family more often than is normal. I got to hang out with my sister-in law Tara A LOT. It was a ton of fun. She is a fun, fun girl and I'm glad she is in my family! She has given me 3 nephews and 1 niece (with one more nephew on the way) and I just love those kids! It was fun to see them almost everyday!

I got to hang out with my dad more than usual since he is working out of the house again and it was nice to spend that time with him. My dad is a great example to me and I admire him so much for his strength in the Gospel. He is a great man and I am so lucky to have him as my dad.

Spending time with my mom is always a BLAST, one of the weeks I was there, we went up to visit Breezy in Vegas. Me, my mom, and Tara and the kids. What a fun week. A little hectic with 7 kids running around, but still a blast to hang out with the girls. While I was there is where I started making my wonderful blanket that I love so much! We had a blast up there. I wish I could get up there more often to see my sister. It sucks living so far away from each other!!!

As for working this summer, I edited from home for Serendipity again. I am sooooo lucky and blessed to be able to work with them. Not only do they do amazing work, but they are just really awesome people too! I would recommend them to ANY bride getting married. It’s been nice to be able to work from home, but it’s also had its challenges. I am literally home ALL DAY long, and Spenser is at work all day long. So by the time he gets home he is tired and wants to just chill and I am STIR CRAZY and need to “get out of the freakin house!” I just feel trapped all day, and so I have to mix it up and find things to do to keep myself entertained. I am ready to go out into the world every day again and interact with people. But, I will miss editing! I love it so much! I am just one lucky girl to be able to have this job. And my boss is an a.m.a.z.i.n.g lady. Seriously. She treats me so well, and I’m not sure I always deserve it. I can’t wait for this semester to end and to be able to pick up some more videos. It will be nice because I will be at the school in the morning and edit and night, I will get the balance I need. Being home all day has made me insane. Seriously.

See what I mean?

This is officially my last semester of classes and long nights at the school. I start student teaching in January! So crazy and exciting! This time next year I could be starting in my very own classroom with my very own students. I cannot wait for that day!

It’s been quite a summer, I haven’t posted about it until now because I’m a terrible blogger, but I am trying to be better. Sundays are going to be my day to update. I never have new pictures to post because we are terrible at taking pictures, so that needs to be a new goal of mine, no matter what!! I need to remember these times because they really are great. I absolutely love being married to Spenser, we have so much fun together. I am a lucky girl.

CAN'T WAIT!!!

See this lovely bride with me?...

In ONE week I am going to get to see her as much as I want! Her and her husband and cute little kiddo are moving about ten minutes away from me! I CANNOT WAIT!!!!

And neither can Spenser. We LOVE them. Bring on the fun times, cuz there will be many!

One more week. But who's counting? :)

Perla's Wedding

My good friend Perla got married last weekend. I didn't meet the lucky man until the Wedding Day, so I was happy to meet him and get to know a little more about him. He is a totally fun guy! And his family is amazing! I told Perla that she is one lucky girl to get to be marrying into such a fun family. They were all out on the dance floor gettin' their groove on all night! I loved it! I love when people can just get out and have fun and dance the night away! It's always fun to see. Perla was a gorgeous bride of course!! I wouldn't have expected otherwise! She is beautiful and had an amazing dress to top it off! I am in the process of working on her wedding video, so stay tuned for that. My mom was the photographer so I got to spend the whole day with her as well, which is always fun! I was so glad she was there!

Here are a few pictures from the Wedding Day of me and some old friends that I got to re-connect with. It was so fun to see them again!

Leaving her mark...

I forgot this was there for awhile, until someone reminded me. It took awhile to wash out. That is some long lasting lipstick if you ask me!

Isn't she pretty? :)

Fun friends from College! I love these guys!

I can't wait to get her video finished! I will be sure to post it when I do!

My New Love

So about 7 months ago I came across a blog that had a tutorial on how to make a particular comforter. I fell instantly in love and saved it for future reference when I would "someday" make it. However, I knew in the back of my mind that I probably wouldn't because it requires sewing. A skill that I have not yet developed. Although, I do hope to someday. I would look at the pictures a lot and think that really maybe someday, somehow, some way I would make this blanket, and I would love it.

Well...a few weeks ago I went up to my sisters house for a visit. I ALWAYS love going to her house, because she always has some new project that she has finished and her house always looks amazing. She has one of those houses that you walk in and think to yourself, "Okay, i've got to redecorate my whole entire house now, and I want it to look just like hers." I LOVE the way she decorates. And the thing is, she re-finishes, she makes her own things, she is so crafty and has an eye for it. I always wish I had more of that in me. Although, there is a lot about my sister that I wish I had in me. She sets her mind on something, or sets a goal, and she achieves it. She does what she says she is going to do. And she does it dang good. She says she is going to run a marathon, so she runs a marathon, she says she is going to eat healthy, so she eats healthy. She is good. I, on the other hand, say I am going to start running, and then I hate it, so I stop running. Ugh, if I only I could be more like Breezy. She inspires me in so many ways. She looks cute everyday, she is a great mom, she is super crafty, she makes great dinners, she runs, she eats healthy, she keeps up with her blog (another skill I am obviously terrible at). So, back to where I was...I get to her house and am looking around and taking myself on the tour, and she is right behind me. I walk in to her bedroom, take one look at her bed and say "SHUT UP!" She made the comforter. The one I had been dreaming of making for the past 7 months. I couldn't believe it. She had no idea I had even ever seen it, let alone loved it, and she made the dang thing. Seeing it in person, and not just on a blog, made me love it even more. Luckily, my sister isn't the type to not want to share her ideas, so she helped me make my own. I started while I was up visiting with her and did a lot more work before she came down 2 weeks later to visit. I got as much done as I could before the sewing needed done and then she helped. She helped me pin the dang thing, which is a long process, and then she sewed it together for me. I could never have made it without her. I am so grateful for all of her help in making it. It took A LOT of hours to put this thing together, but it was worth every minute. I literally walk in to my room and tell it how pretty it is and how much I love it just about every day.

My camera isn't the greatest so the pictures probably don't do it justice, but here it is. My new love.

Happy Birthday!

Well friends, we made another music video. Spenser's little brother Kade came down for a visit this weekend and it just so happened to be his Birthday...and well... that inspired us.
