Our first night on board was a bit crazy. We left San Diego and headed down to dine for dinner. We got seated with two other couples, which was fine, but I was bummed that I forgot to tell them ahead of time that we wanted our own table. We actually got seated with another LDS couple...they had quite the story of how they met...it was very strange, Me and Spenser only dined one more time and the rest of the time we just ate up on the Lido deck to avoid any awkwardness. But anywho, during dinner we started feeling the movement of the ship so bad. That was a week of a pretty big storm, and the waves were HUGE that first night, and it was so unfortunately obvious. We decided to cut out early on dinner and just head back to the room to lay down cuz we were feeling sick from it. Spenser didn't keep his dinner down for very long, and I just layed on the bed wishing I could get rid of mine. It was terrible!! BUT, my mom had given us some sea sick patches to put behind our ears (her and my dad used them on their cruise and they worked like a charm) so we put those on, and went to bed. The next day was our day at sea, and the weather and the water was calm, thank goodness! We had lots of fun.
Our first stop was in Catalina Island! What a beautiful place! I wish we would have had more time there! That is a place I would love to go and stay for a week! There is so much to see and do there! We didn't get to see very much because we weren't old enough to rent a darn golf cart! So we got electric bikes instead!
That night was the "Captains Dinner" It was the Formal, Fancy dinner. So we got to dress up. It was fun! I borrowed my moms dress that she wore on her cruise! It was fun to get all dressed up. But unfortunately, we slacked off that night and really didnt get very many pictures in our fancy outfits! Oh well... that was probably the most interesting night on the cruise...and for one reason only...the sea sick patch! What an evil little sucker. Soo! We decided to take them off the morning of Catalina, but then the weather was supposed to pick back up, so after we got back on the ship we put some new ones on, and we layed down and just crashed...4 hours later Spenser tried to wake me up. And it just wasn't happening. I was in a whole new world. I didn't know what was going on, what time it was, what was happening, or anything. Spenser told me to wake up so we could go eat dinner, it was about 8:00 pm, but I thought it was the next morning and I couldn't understand why they hadn't brought us our breakfast! I was acting really strange, and talking about trains on the track, 123... and breakfast, and calling Spenser weird names, and asking him why he was acting like a 2 year old and saying weird words, and I kept saying that I was so sad that we missed our day in Ensenada, he had no idea what was wrong with me! He video taped me for a bit, its quite entertaining. He just kept telling me to stop acting stupid...he thought I was just messing with him...but I was definitely not. I hardly remember any of it. He finally got me up to the lido deck for dinner, and the whole way up there I was like swaying back and forth and just acting weird. So we get in there and he starts getting all this dinner food and I say. "Where is the breakfast?" He told me for the 100th time that its night time and its dinner time! So I said I wasn't going to eat that crap and I got a bowl of peaches and sat down. Then I suddenly realized everything was FUZZY, I could NOT see clear at all! And it freaked me out! Not only did I feel completely weird and confused, and frustrated, but I couldn't see! So he sits down with his food and I say to him, "I can't see my peaches.." and I just started to cry.. then he finally realized I was not joking, something was wrong! So he took me down to the room and we read the box for the sea sick patch...and every single side effect that you could get from it, I GOT! It was ridiculous. So we took it off, and I layed there feeling confused and like crap for quite some time. He made me drink a bunch of apple juice and eat a sandwich, and then I went back to sleep until the morning. It was not fun, but talking about it now is good for a laugh, especially from Spensers point of view!
Our second stop was in Ensenada, Mexico. We took a taxi out to the blow hole, I had also been here before and the blow hole just wasn't all that impressive, but this time we got there early and it really was pretty cool!
I could tell a million stories, and share a ton of pictures. But I will just leave it at that. It was a great trip! Very interesting, funny, we got a little sick here and there, but we have nothing but great memories of our trip! And before we went home we stopped at the temple and did a session, it was awesome. The San Diego Temple is gorgeous! If you haven't been there, you should definitely go next time you are in San Diego!
Word of advice: Don't use a sea sick patch. :) Although, it really was pretty funny!
